Correct errors in your EPIC (Voter ID card) — name spelling, date of birth, address, or photograph — using Form 8 online at voterportal.eci.gov.in, or by submitting a physical form at your local Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) office.

Visit voterportal.eci.gov.in
Open the official ECI voter portal on any browser or use the Voter Helpline app.

Log in to Your Account
Sign in with your registered mobile / email. If you don't have an account, register first using your mobile number.

Select Form 8 — Correction of Entries
From the dashboard select 'Correction of Entries in Electoral Roll' (Form 8). This is used for correcting name, DOB, address within the same constituency, or updating photo.

Enter Your EPIC Number
Enter your current EPIC (Voter ID) number. The portal will fetch your existing voter details.

Select the Field to Correct
Choose which field needs correction: Name, Father / Mother / Spouse name, Date of Birth, Address (within same constituency), or Photograph.

Upload Supporting Document
Upload a document that proves the correct information. File size must be under 2 MB per document (JPEG / PDF).

Submit and Track
Submit the form. You will receive a reference ID via SMS. Track status at voterportal.eci.gov.in → 'Track Application Status'. Corrections are processed within 30–45 days.
Offline Process — ERO / BLO Office

Download Form 8 from eci.gov.in or collect it from your local Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) / Booth Level Officer (BLO) office.

Fill the Form
Fill in your EPIC number, constituency details, the incorrect information as it currently appears, and the correct information you want updated.

Attach Documents
Attach self-attested photocopies of supporting documents proving the correction (e.g., Aadhaar showing correct name/DOB/address).

Submit to ERO / BLO
Submit the filled form at your local ERO office or hand it to your designated Booth Level Officer. Get an acknowledgement receipt.

Follow Up
Corrections are processed within 30–45 days. You can also call Voter Helpline 1950 to check status with your acknowledgement number.

Q: What is Form 8 used for?
A: Form 8 is used for correction of existing entries in the Electoral Roll — such as name spelling, date of birth, address (within the same constituency), father/mother/spouse name, or photograph.
Q: What if I have moved to a different constituency and also need address correction?
A: If you have moved to a different constituency, use Form 6 (fresh registration) instead of Form 8. Form 8 is only for corrections within the same constituency.
Q: How long does a correction take?
A: Online corrections via Form 8 on voterportal.eci.gov.in are typically processed within 30–45 days. You will be notified via SMS once the correction is approved.
Q: Will I get a new EPIC card after correction?
A: Yes. Once the correction is approved, a new EPIC card with the updated information will be dispatched to your address. You can also download the updated e-EPIC digitally.
Q: My EPIC has both name and address errors. Can I correct both in one Form 8?
A: Yes. Form 8 allows you to mark multiple fields for correction in a single application. Upload supporting documents for each field you are correcting.
Q: Can someone else submit Form 8 on my behalf?
A: For the offline process, a family member can submit on your behalf with a written authorization letter and a copy of your ID. For online corrections, you must log in using your own registered mobile/email.
