Types of Ration Cards
APL (Above Poverty Line)
For families above the poverty line
👤 Eligible: Income > ₹1 Lakh/year

BPL (Below Poverty Line)
For families below the poverty line
👤 Eligible: Income < ₹1 Lakh/year

AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana)
For the most vulnerable families
👤 Eligible: Poorest of the poor
🌾 Ration: 35 kg/family/month

How to Apply — Step by Step

Download Form
Get the ration card application form from your district Food & Civil Supplies office or download from state portal.

Fill the Form
Fill all details: head of family name, address, Aadhaar numbers of all members, income proof.

Attach Documents
Aadhaar card, address proof, income certificate, passport photo, existing ration card (if surrendering).

Submit & Get Receipt
Submit at tehsil/block office or CSC center. Get an acknowledgment receipt with application number.

Field Verification
An inspector visits your home to verify address and family details. Be available during this time.

Card Issued
On approval, ration card is issued within 30–45 days. Some states issue digital cards via SMS/portal.

Common Problems & Solutions

Name not in ration card
Visit block/tehsil office with Aadhaar proof and fill Form for Addition of Member.

Card not received after 45 days
Check online portal for status. If approved but not received, contact District Food Officer.

Ration shop not giving full quota
File complaint at https://nfsa.gov.in or call 1967 (toll-free helpline).

Dead member still showing in card
Submit death certificate at tehsil office for deletion of member.

Card cancelled without notice
File RTI with Food Department asking for reason. Also appeal to District Collector.

Migrated to new city — how to transfer?
Get 'Surrender Certificate' from old state, apply fresh in new state with that certificate.
